We are overjoyed to announce that we have officially reached our $300,000 2024 Festival fundraising goal thanks to the generous support of MHCare Medical!

In March of 2024, we launched a campaign to Sustain Fringe. This campaign called on our community to support the thing they love.

Like many arts organizations across the country, we’re facing a difficult financial reality as we continue to recover from the pandemic. Simply put: the cost of producing an event like ours is outpacing our funding supports.

We started Sustain Fringe with a mighty 34 monthly donors and set a goal to raise $300,000 by the end of the 2024 Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival.

By closing night of Festival, that support had grown to more than 500 monthly Donors and $242,000 in support toward our goal.

This story caught the attention of MHCare Medical, who generously came forward to help us close the gap, donating a whopping $58,000!

MHCare Medical believes in building healthy communities. Their generous investment is a testament to the importance of the arts in contributing to the health and vibrancy of Edmonton.

This success is thanks to every monthly donor who joined us early and enthusiastically. Thank YOU, Edmonton. YOU created a swell of energy around our fundraising movement. YOU helped us reach our goal.

“We are proud supporters of health & wellness in our community, the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival is one of our city’s iconic events, and we are delighted to provide the funding to close the gap in this year’s fundraising campaign which will bolster future sustainability,” states MHCare Medical’s CEO Sam Mraiche.

“MHCare Medical’s generous investment is a testament to the importance of the arts in Edmonton. We are incredibly grateful to our community for answering our call for support. Edmonton has rallied to help us meet our goal,” says Megan Dart, Fringe Theatre’s Executive Director. “Essential gifts like this mean we can continue our journey toward sustainability. It ensures we can continue to provide Artists the tools, platform, and resources they need to reach engaged audiences. It means Fringe Theatre can continue to contribute to the vibrancy of our community and keep Edmonton on the map as a creative destination.”

WILL YOU JOIN THE MOVEMENT TO SUSTAIN FRINGE?

Fringe began as a grassroots movement where anyone can be an Artist. We make space for out-of-the-ordinary, unconventional, and boundary-pushing art. Unlike traditional presenting models, Fringe Artists receive 100% of the profit from their ticket sales.

When you buy a ticket to a Fringe show, you are supporting the Artists on the stage. When you donate to Fringe Theatre, you ensure Artists have access to all the essentials they need – the stage, the lights, the sound, the Technicians, the Audience – to tell their stories and propel their careers.

If every Fringe fan gave just $5 a month, every month, Fringe Theatre would become sustainable for generations to come. Will you join the movement?
