Take a Risk: It's the Most Fringe Thing You Can Do
Fringe Monthly Donor and Board Member Kevin Fitzgerald talks about how Fringe is a family affair, and the importance of donating monthly to ensure our Festival’s sustainability.
Kevin Fitzgerald (he/him) has been fringing since 1983.
“We stumbled on Fringe by accident. We were walking through the neighbourhood, and we saw what seemed to be a party,” recalls Kevin.
“I think for many people, the entry point to Fringe is the Beer Tents or the Outdoor Performances. But for us, we jumped into the theatre shows right away. Fringe became very special to my wife and me, and we continue to share it with our family, friends, and relatives.”
“My kids grew up at KidsFringe, and my children’s children – my grandchildren – also frequent KidsFringe. Isn’t that amazing?!”
A frequent Fringer of 40 years now, Kevin knew he wanted to give back, so he became a Monthly Donor.
“Fringe is a hub, a connector, an organizer. Fringe plays a huge role in cultivating a healthy arts scene in Alberta and across this country. The Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival acts as an anchor for many Artists on the Fringe Festival circuit.”
“It’s a magical experience with a little bit of something for everybody. I choose to be an ongoing Monthly Donor because Fringe adds so much value to my life. If something adds regular, strong value to my life, I want to give back. I want to sustain it. I want it to be here for another 45 years.”
